Serena Williams Announces Retirement from Tennis

The 40 year old legendary tennis player announced her retirement from the sport this week bringing to and end a glittering career having won an astonishing 23 Grand Slam Titles. She won the Australian Open 7 times, the French Open 3 times, Wimbledon 7 times and the US Open 6 times. These record breaking statistics helped her to become the highest female sports professional of all time. Originally Williams was linked to Puma and wore their clothing and tennis shoes but in 2004 she signed a huge sponsorship deal worth millions with Nike who she has been with to this day. She has even had the time to have her own clothing range called ‘Aneres’ which is Serena backwards. Known for her phenomenal serve and hard hitting athletic style she often destroyed her opponents in minutes on court.
